just had some fun with my markers and microns this week.

this is a second wood block i started... its a tank.

ALSO! paul invited me to intern at huipress in Maui!

today from 9am - 5pm i carved woodblocks with masterprinter paul mullowney and artist sandow birk.

today was a pretty great day.

stumbled upon this little ditty the other day. a lot of his work seems repetitive.. something like this: :) :) :) :) :) :) :).

but you have to respect the dedication of a guy who draws nothing but smiley faces for two years (07,08,most of 09)

finished it! (aka i give up). denise is the hardest person in the world to draw. i think there's one or two other people that can vouch for this.

at first drawing from smith's picture seemed daunting and tedious but when i started picking out only the essential lines, and drawing large outlines of shapes (filling in with sharpie instead of pen) the process became a lot easier/faster/more fun.

monday night fig drawing

the drawing group i go to on monday nights is filled with ladies in their 50s and 60s...
they feed me cookies and brownies and smirk at each other when the older surfer gentlemen takes off his board shorts.
its great fun.
